The third quarter of 2016 showed an increase in planning permissions of 115% from the same time in 2015.

The CSO figures show an increase in planning permission for houses of 86%. A total of 4,362 houses were granted planning permission in the last quarter of 2016.

One-off houses accounted for 19.4% of all new dwelling units to be granted planning permission in Q4 of 2016.

The largest increase was for apartments which showed an increase of 304.5% on the same time last year. In total planning permission was granted for 1,452 apartment units.

The number of extensions receiving planning permission in Q3 of 2016 was 2,198.

It is looking like 2017 will be a busy year so plan early and book your builder on time!
